In spite of it all, Liz’s business never stumbled. In fact, it flourished. She soon added laser hair removal to her electrolysis expertise. “I was the second person in town to offer laser hair removal,” explains Liz.

When laser was introduced to the healthcare market, doctors made every attempt to restrict the services to physicians only. A team of electrologists from across the state, including Liz, lobbied in Raleigh to pass a bill that would allow electrologists to offer this service.

Liz Fisher knows a thing or two about endurance. As the owner of Laser Hair Removal and Skin Clinic in Wilmington, the road to her success was paved with a host of personal challenges. Divorce, the loss of a father and a struggle with aggressive breast cancer would have broken the spirit of most women. For Liz, they were a series of events that made her a better mother, a more compassionate friend and an excellent healthcare provider.

As a single mom searching to support her family, Liz enrolled in electrology school in Florida. For seven months, she commuted from Florida to North Carolina every weekend to be with her two boys who were living with her supportive parents. Her boundless energy, a hard dose of reality and good friends kept her strong.

“When I got my certifications, I opened a tiny one-room office in Hampstead,” says Liz. “I started with one patient and each week more and more people came through my doors. “That was over ten years ago. Now I have five employees working for me and I just purchased new office space.”

Liz and her team of electrolgists, estheticians and massage therapists now operate out of her new facility in Howe CreekLanding, adjacent to Mayfaire.
